A well kept secret.
Plaquemines parish is well known as a sportsman’s paradise and for delicious citrus, yet the lifestyle it affords has been a closely held secret. Why, well perhaps it has just been overlooked, or thoughts were turned to St. Tammany parish as the great escape
from Orleans and Jefferson parish, but today Plaquemines is the parish whose time has come.
A few of the many reasons Plaquemines parish is now the most sought after parish in the New Orleans area:
Two major levee systems, the Mississippi River levee and the Intra-Costal
levee, protect upper Plaquemines Parish and, most significantly,
the specific area of The Parks of Plaquemines.
Located near the
Mississippi River levee and sitting above sea level,
this land is both “high” and “dry”.
Most of the Parks of Plaquemines is located in Flood Zone "B".
Important fact to know: Even during hurricane Katrina, no flooding occurred in the area of and surrounding The Parks of Plaquemines!
Good government.
Well-run government is another key factor in choosing Plaquemines parish. Good government fosters excellent schools, good roads and important services like fire and police protection that allows the residents of Plaquemines parish to sleep well
at night.
Good schools.
Prestigiously labeled a (3-star school system) by the State of Louisiana Department of Education, Plaquemines Parish has some of the best schools in the state. The schools in Plaquemines rank 12th out of 68 parishes statewide. The students in this district receive quality education in a safe environment.
Limited Access.
Limited access is also an important factor in the safety of Plaquemines parish residents. There are only two accesses in and out of the parish and both require passage over an easy to monitor bridge, making entry and exits easy to police. This deterrent to crime,
in addition to vigilant police protection, makes Plaquemines parish one of the safest places to call home.
Lower taxes.
Plaquemines parish enjoys substantially lower taxes than neighboring parishes. In fact, taxes in adjoining parishes are as much
as 80%-156% higher.
But, how can the taxes be lower if the government is better? Simple. The answer goes right back to well run, trustworthy government.
